Whether it’s a presentation, an audition or a performance there are a number of things that can help you get your listener’s attention and secure their interest.
1. If I really want to improve my situation, I can work on the one thing over which I have control — myself. ~ Stephen R. Covey
There are aspects within an audition that you can control, and things you can’t. You have no control over the fact that the director might be in a foul mood because they were stuck in traffic all morning and didn’t get their coffee, but you can control the fact your material is well-rehearsed and well-prepared. You have no power over the personality of your audience or the way they choose to respond to your performance but you have every power over your own personality. How you choose to behave in that situation is really the only thing you can control.
